Cruise port infrastructure, port projects on renewable energy and transport systems, and the reduction of emissions from cruising, are the three key issues discussed during the 4th GreenPort Cruise, which was held under the auspices of MedCruise in Venice, Italy.

MedCruise has been a key contributor in the core of the discussions. Among others, participating in the first session, Valeria Mangiarotti (MedCruise assigned member for environmental issues, Marketing Manager of Port of Cagliari) addressed the ongoing reform of the Port waste Reception Facilities (PRF) Directive 2000/59. 

In the second session, MedCruise Honorary President Carla Salvado (Director of Cruise Marketing, Global Ports Holdings) presented green initiatives that are already implemented as best practices in Kusadasi, Bodrum and Antalya cruise ports.

The evaluation of the Directive and the assessment of effectiveness and efficiency are a work in progress for MedCruise and its members and working togeher to develop proposals that will improve the simplicity of the legislative framework and reduce its regulatory costs. The same time the dissemination and implementation of green best practices are in great importnance and ports working together to achieve greener ports.
