With the aim of promoting Cyprus as an attractive tourist destination and boosting cruise tourism, DP World Limassol will host leading cruise sector executives from various countries on a three day information visit.

More specifically 10 large cruise companies based in Europe and the United States will take part in a familiarisation trip that will be held from 25 to 27 April. The initiative is being carried out in cooperation with the CTO, Limassol Municipality and Haifa port.

During their visit, participants will visit sights and world class monuments such as the ancient theatre of Curium in Limassol, the Tombs of the Kings in Paphos and the Venetian Walls in Nicosia. In addition, guests will tour Cyprus’ picturesque villages and enjoy local food at traditional taverns so as to become acquainted with the country’s history and culture. In addition, executives will visit the ultra-modern facilities of DP World Limassol’s New Passenger Terminal and hold meetings with tourism officials.

In statements, DP World Limassol General Manager, Charles Meaby, said DP World Limassol aimed to establish Limassol as a home port and an attractive option for Mediterranean cruises. About the event, Mr Meaby noted: “Our aim is to offer our guests authentic hospitality, a journey into the history and culture of Cyprus, offering a feast of local flavours and tastes while giving our local associates the opportunity to get to know important executives from the sector, and to discuss and exchange views with them.”

Mr Meaby also highlighted the benefits of a developed cruise sector and noted: “The activities of DP World Limassol at Limassol port aspire to make the terminal a pillar of economic growth, enhancing the prospects of the tourism and cruise sector and generating significant benefits for the local market such as the creation of new jobs and the provision of upgraded services for the local and the wider business communities.”
