La Spezia, the new Italian cruise Port in the Med.

With the new dedicated Garibaldi pier and cruise terminal, La Spezia has became the new port of call in the Med.

La Spezia Port Authority is involved in the project for a new urban waterfront, which include a new cruise area already been approved. Plans are currently being developed for the realization of a quay for cruise ships and, at the same time, work is taking place on the definition of the new cruise terminal. Both structures will be completed in 2017 and at that date La Spezia will be able to receive two cruise ships of the last generation.

Also, on April 2013 onwards, cruise vessels can moor at the new berth located within the merchant port, specifically the new quay at Garibaldi pier (600 mt lenght), extension works on which have been completed. In the meantime has been realized and is now available a new Cruise Terminal - GOLFO DEI POETI - CINQUE TERRE CRUISE TERMINAL for passengers in transit and for boarding.

The first cruise ships COSTA CLASSICA called La Spezia on April 7th and LIBERTY OF THE SEAS on May 3rd. In  2013 La Spezia welcomed 213,858 passengers for 149 ships call.

In 2014 are expected to call La Spezia more than 180 cruise ships for a total traffic of around 470,000 pax. Many companies have chosen to call the Port of La Spezia such as: Costa Crociere, Royal Caribbean Int.l, MSC Crociere, Disney, Ibero Cruises, Carnival, Aida Cruises, Pullmantur, Regent, Horizon, Seven Seas.

Landing at La Spezia passengers can easily reach not only the amazing  Gulf of La Spezia with Lerici and Porto Venere, but they can easily visit in twenty minutes the amazing Cinque Terre and their beautiful landscapes.

Other important destinations can be reached by bus from La Spezia as well as SarzanaFlorence, Pisa, Lucca, ParmaLunigiana and marble quarries of Carrara.
