Patronat de Turisme Costa Brava - Palamόs

Founded in 1976 by Girona Provincial Council, the Costa Brava Girona Tourism Board is a mixed public/private sector body in terms of its shareholding composition, incorporated in the form of a not-for-profit limited company. Founded to serve as the meeting point between the various government bodies and the tourism sector of Girona province, its work focuses on three spheres:

  • External marketing
  • Internal marketing
  • Competitiveness

Over its 35-year history, the Board has promoted the Costa Brava and Pirineu de Girona destinations in the main European markets.

The Shareholders’ Meeting is the supreme body of the Tourism Board and is made up of the shareholders who, in 1976, set up this entity in the form of a non-profit limited company. Public funds account for almost 70% of the shareholder structure.

The Board of Directors is the Tourism Board’s governing body which monitors the actions carried out and takes most of the decisions.

There are 40 members of the Board, divided 50-50 between the public and private sectors. The Board of Directors is assisted by the secretary of the Provincial Council, the deputy-auditor of the Provincial Council and the director of the Tourism Board.

The region of Girona is made up of 8 counties, in turn nowadays comprising a total of 221 municipalities.

The quantity and diversity of tourism resources in the Girona counties and the considerable number of agents that participate in managing them makes it advisable to encourage cooperation between the public and private sectors in developing these resources.

The Costa Brava Girona Tourism Board, an organisation that counts as one of its basic aims to develop and promote tourism in the Girona counties, wants to provide support for all countywide actions that aim to improve the tourism sector’s competitiveness by involving businesses in this sector.
