On May 16, 2013, Dogus Group1 placed the highest offer for the privatization of Istanbul Port (Salipazari Cruise Port), with a $702 million bid, winning the right to operate the port area for 30 years. In partnership with BLG Capital the real estate private equity arm of Bilgili Group2, Dogus Group established Galataport Istanbul Port Management and Investments Inc. Galataport Istanbul is the only operating cruise port in Istanbul. The company physically took over the port area on the 24th of February 2014 and immediately renovated the terminal building, updated or renewed the port’s equipment. The company will regenerate the waterfront into hospitality and recreational open spaces with a luxury hotel, cafes, restaurants, boutiques, together with two contemporary art museums in harmony with the Karaköy
and Cihangir districts.

The current pier has been extended to 10mtr towards the sea. A brand new 20,000sq mtr passenger terminal is also part of the redevelopment project. Istanbul Port gives services such as 24/7 security, K9, shelter, mooring, fresh water services, luggage handling, stevedoring and oil boom. Istanbul is a unique city where the East meets the West and which remains true to its historic heritage through its mosques, basilicas and bazaars.
