Porto Livorno 2000 operates the cruise and ferry terminal in the port of Livorno. It offers a wide range of services where safety and efficiency are the guiding principles. The Company manages The Cruise Terminal, the Maritime Passenger Station, information services, car parks and transportation whthin the port of Livorno. The Company was privatized in 2019 (Onorato Group and MSC Cruisis manage sharing Livorno Port Authority Network and the Chamber of Commerce). The port of Livorno is the main gateway to Tuscany and is located a short distance from the most visited art cities, such as Florence, Pisa and Lucca. Livorno offers cruise lines and their tour operators complementary and alternative itineraries in the cost of tuscany. This so-called “Alternative Tuscany” is just as picturesque and fascinating with such destinations as Livorno and Gran Duchy of Tuscany.
History
Livorno is Port for Tuscany. It is highly attractive for the major cruise lines as the art cities offer different opportunities of excursions in Firenze, Pisa, Lucca, Siena and many medieval village in Costa Toscana like Bolgheri in tuscan wine road.
Livorno is the one true gateway to the wonders of Tuscany with a natural vacation as Port of call. In addition its central location in Italy and the Mediterranean and its promixity to Pisa international airport have allowed Livorno to become a successful Home Port providing partial passengers turn-around. The number of smaller, luxury ships berthing at the ‘Medici Port’ and overnight calls are also constantly increasing. The “Medici Port” is situated near one of the most impressive 16th century monuments, the Fortezza Vecchia, where cultural and artistic activities happen. The cruise calls are distributed all year round and the high season includes the months from May to October with almost the same number of passengers in transit and in partial turn-around.
