History

James Rawes is a long-established Lisbon-based group specializing in port agency, claims, survey, and settling services. Founded in the 1860s, it became Agents for Royal Mail Lines and the Peninsular and Oriental Steam Navigation Company. The Lisbon office has been Agents for Lloyd’s of London since 1873. Over the years, the company evolved, changing names and expanding its divisions. Today, James Rawes operates as a holding company with subsidiaries, including James Rawes Navegação, James Rawes Peritagens, and James Rawes Turismo. While no longer 100% family-owned, the Rawes family remains involved in the company’s daily operations.
