History

Turisme de Barcelona is the organisation responsible for promoting Barcelona as a tourist destination. Founded in 1993 by the Barcelona City Council and the Barcelona Chamber of Commerce, Turisme de Barcelona’s main aim is to attract tourism business to the city. More than 900 local tourism companies are members and provide Turisme de Barcelona support and know-how. Barcelona is a city committed to responsible tourism and was the first city to be awarded Biosphere Responsible Tourism destination certification by the Responsible Tourism Institute (RTI).
