The Board of Directors of West Sicily Gate S.r.l., the company operating under concession the cruise terminals in the ports of Palermo, Trapani, Porto Empedocle, and Termini Imerese, has appointed Eng. Antonino Corrao as the new General Manager, succeeding Dr Antonio Di Monte.
West Sicily Gate extends its sincere gratitude to Dr Di Monte for his invaluable contribution and the significant results achieved during his tenure as General Manager, particularly throughout the crucial start-up and consolidation phases of the company.
Antonino Corrao has served for several years within the company as Operation Manager and Port Facility Security Officer (PFSO). He brings with him a broad managerial background in the industrial sector, with expertise in the Automotive and Oil & Gas industries. In his capacity as operations and security lead, he has played a key role in the development of West Sicily Gate during its initial stages, acquiring essential expertise in the port sector and, more specifically, in the cruise industry.
This appointment comes at a positive and growing moment for the company, which is experiencing steady increases in traffic volumes and a strengthening presence across the port network of Western Sicily. In 2024, the company handled 276 cruise calls and 987,659 passengers, representing a 176% increase compared to 2022. Of these, 179,657 were embarking or disembarking, while 808,002 were transit passengers visiting the cities. Mr Corrao’s leadership will be instrumental in continuing the growth trend and further consolidating operational and quality processes.
