The Port of Santa Cruz de Tenerife celebrated today the inaugural call of Carnival Cruise Line’s Mardi Gras, one of the most iconic and innovative vessels in the cruise industry. The highlight of the day was the official exchange of metopas, a ceremony that was led by Luz Marina Espiau Moreno, Board Member of MedCruise and Commercial & Business Development Director of the Port Authority of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, who presented the commemorative plaque to the ship’s captain.

This event also marked the first metopa ceremony of the season in the Ports of Tenerife, symbolizing the official start of the destination’s high cruise season, during which thousands of international visitors are expected to arrive on board the world’s leading cruise lines.

During its stay, the Mardi Gras also carried out bunkering operations with liquid fuels, serviced by the bunker tanker Milos (Limassol), showcasing the port’s operational capacity to handle high-level technical and logistical services.
