Port Network Authority of the North Thyrrenian Sea

Following the legislative decree n. 169, 4th August 2016, the North Tyrrhenian Port Network Authority of Livorno and Piombino has been established, including also the port of Portoferraio.

Livorno is the natural gateway to Tuscany, only 80 minutes far from Florence and 30 from Pisa by car/bus. Porto di Livorno 2000 s.r.l. (72% of shares owned by the Port Authority, 28% by the Chamber of Commerce) is the limited company concessionaire of piers and areas, managing the passenger ships (ferry & cruise) in the Port of Livorno. Molo Italia and Alto Fondale quays can receive the mega-ships, while the luxury ships berth in the Medicean Port, within walking distance of Downtown. Two fully equipped terminals and excellent air connections through Pisa Airport make Livorno the ideal port for turnarounds. World famous vineyards in Bolgheri village, beaches, natural parks, Etruscan and Roman ruins represent interesting alternatives to classic Tuscany tours.

The port of Piombino is now ready to host the biggest cruise ships in the world seeking to discover the natural beauties of southern Tuscany. Portoferraio is the capital of Elba, the largest island in the Tuscan archipelago. The ‘Deep-Water’ quay, where cruise ships call, is close by the historic centre. The passenger finds himself inside the Medicean town, between fashionable shops and small restaurants, with places redolent of Napoleonic memories. Luxury coaches are available at the foot of the gangway, ready to carry the visitor on trips to the most attractive corners of the island, which in a length of 27 kilometers offers an uncontaminated natural countryside.
