Cruise tο Koper !

An ancient Mediterranean town, Koper lies on the northern coast of the Istrian peninsula, where the Adriatic Sea cuts deeply into the heart of Central Europe. Istria connects the Adriatic Sea and the Karst region, mighty waters and soft stones. Koper’s rich history with Venetian renaissance tradition is very well preserved with many beautiful squares, monuments and townhouses.

The Cruise Terminal is just a minutes walk from the wonderful Tito’s square with its Cathedral, Venetian Praetorian Palace and Loggia from 13th century as well as old town cafes and restaurants. The history of Koper goes back to the times of the Middle Bronze Age, 1500 years B.C., passengers and tourists can enjoy and visit different museums, galleries and churches, all within walking distance.

Many cruise lines visit Koper in order to include a different country on the itinerary with the intention to offer a new and different product to passengers. Slovenia offers a patchwork of landscapes: high mountains with lake districts, wooded uplands, verdant green valleys and a slice of Adriatic coastline. Only an hour away by road you can experience amazing contrasts like a swim in the Adriatic with the Mediterranean climate, the midst of Alpine mountains with a marvellous winter idyll, or untouched green nature in the Slovenia hinterland.

All shore excursions can be combined with the enjoyment of gastronomical and oenological (wine) specialties of the region. Experience a subterranean adventure in an amazing karstic cave such as those at Postojna and Škocjan (a UNESCO World Heritage Site), the white Lipizzaner horses of the Lipica stud farm, or take an invigorating bath in thermal waters.

Ljubljana is the Capital and largest city of Slovenia. Unquestionably it is the political, economic and cultural centre of the country. The city is reminicent of Vienna, Prague and other cities with Baroque architecture. It is pleasant to take a walk or cycle across the city, through Tivoli park and along Ljubljanica river crossed by many wonderful bridges. Piran is a small medieval town with a rich cultural heritage, Venetian style, historical monuments and narrow streets, one of Slovenia’s major tourist attractions. Piran is the birthplace of composer and violinist Giuseppe Tartini, who played an important role in shaping its cultural heritage.
