Cruises Atlantic Islands (CAI) held its II General Assembly on 17 November, bringing together the ports of the Macaronesia region to review shared priorities and agree on the strategic roadmap for the coming year.
The meeting focused on strengthening inter-port cooperation and consolidating the Macaronesia as a reference region within the global cruise industry.
Key Discussions and Outcomes
- Approval of the 2026 Action Plan Delegates approved the action plan for 2026, centred on joint promotion, sustainability, strengthening relations with cruise lines, and enhancing the port-of-call experience across all member ports.
- Appointment of the New Board of Directors The new Board, elected to reinforce collaborative efforts and increase the region’s visibility in international forums, is composed as follows:
- President: Beatriz Calzada Ojeda (AP Las Palmas)
- Vice President: Irineu Camacho (Portos de Cabo Verde)
- Secretary: Pedro López de Vergara (AP Tenerife)
- Treasurer: Sancha Costa Santos (Portos dos Açores)
- Board Member: Paula Cabaço da Silva (Portos da Madeira)
The newly appointed Board reaffirmed its commitment to promoting collaborative work among the ports of the Macaronesia and to strengthening the region’s presence in key cruise industry events and discussions.
CAI expressed its appreciation to all members for their active participation and renewed its commitment to advancing a shared strategy that fosters competitiveness, sustainability, and global visibility for the region.
