The FRCC initiated this environmental approach a little more than a year ago with the purpose of changing the negative image that many may still have of the cruise industry.

The FRCC environmental commission focused their actions on three main areas: the cruise liner the port and the destination.

Examples of how this environmental approach is put into practice on the Cote d’Azur:

1. Environmental visits: The FRCC is committed to organising environmental visits of the cruise liners every year to raise public awareness of the measures taken by such ships to respect the environment (waste sorting on-board water treatment).

2. The FRCC Green Award: Presented this year to the Celebrity Century (during the Seatrade Med convention) for its exemplary approach to the management of water air and waste.

3. Green Tours and Itineraries: Their aim is to offer cruise companies environmentally responsible excursions. The FRCC plans to develop this new concept of ‘green cruises’ alongside other adapted tourism products.
