The port of La Estaca, in El Hierro, has today welcomed for the first time the cruise vessel Wind Star, marking an important milestone for the island within the small-scale, high-value cruise segment.

To commemorate this first call, the traditional plaque exchange was held as a symbol of welcome and institutional recognition. Captain David received the commemorative plaque alongside his crew, in a cordial meeting attended by the Regional Minister of Tourism and members of her team, underlining the institutional relevance of this inaugural visit.

Wind Star is a boutique cruise vessel with a capacity of 159 guests and 88 crew members, designed to offer exclusive experiences in unique destinations. Its arrival highlights El Hierro’s ability to integrate into quality itineraries that prioritize authenticity, sustainability and a balanced impact on the local community.

The institutions present expressed their appreciation and pride in hosting this first call, extending a warm welcome to the Captain and crew and sharing the common wish that this visit marks the beginning of many future calls.

The call of Wind Star strengthens El Hierro’s positioning as an emerging destination for small-scale cruise tourism, capable of generating economic value, international visibility and meaningful experiences for both visitors and residents.
