Five Senses Consulting & Development has initiated a strategic collaboration with Thessaloniki Port Authority S.A. (ThPA S.A.), a MedCruise member, to support the next phase of cruise development at the Port of Thessaloniki.
The initiative focuses on strengthening Thessaloniki’s position within the Mediterranean cruise network, building on the momentum achieved in recent years and leveraging the advantages of the port, the city, and the wider region of Northern Greece.
As part of the launch of the collaboration, a working meeting took place with ThPA S.A.’s CEO, Dr. Ioannis Tsaras, and Security Advisor Mr. Konstantinos Kavdas, during which the prospects for further cruise development at the port were discussed. Particular attention was given to opportunities related to homeporting, enabling Thessaloniki to serve as a point of embarkation and disembarkation for cruise passengers.
In parallel, a meeting was held with the Mayor of Thessaloniki, Mr. Stelios Angeloudis, focusing on strengthening cooperation between the port, the city and tourism stakeholders, as well as on developing a coordinated framework of actions to further promote the destination and enhance the visitor experience.
The collaboration focuses on a number of strategic priorities, including:
- Exploring opportunities for homeporting development in Thessaloniki
- Strengthening cooperation with local authorities and tourism stakeholders
- developing new experiences and excursion opportunities for cruise passengers
- Promoting Thessaloniki within the international cruise industry network
The initiative is aligned with the broader efforts to further develop cruise activity in Thessaloniki, leveraging the port’s strategic location in the Northern Aegean, the modern “Alexander the Great” Cruise Terminal, upgraded port infrastructure, proximity to the city centre, and access to significant cultural and natural destinations across Northern Greece.
