On Monday, October 3rd, the new cruise pier Saint Nikolaos was inaugurated in the port of Piraeus, in the presence of Mrs. Elena Kountoura, Alternate Minister of Economy, Development and Tourism and Captain Xu Lirong, Chairman of China COSCO Shipping Corporation Limited.

Among the participants of this special ceremony were also Mr. I. Moralis, Mayor of Piraeus, Mr. S. Pitsiorlas, Chairman of Hellenic Republic Asset Development Fund, Mr. G. Gavrilis, Regional vice Governor of Piraeus, Members of Parliament, Mr. S. Hatzakos, MedCruise Honorary President and General Manager of PPA S.A., General Secretaries and other official guests.

The project was completed successfully by TEKAL S.A. in cooperation with Naftiliaki Technodomiki according to the time schedule submitted.

The new pier is of total length 284m. and depth 11m, while the total area occupied stands at 8,415 sqm. With the completion of this project, the number of total berth positions for cruise ships in the port of Piraeus climbs at 10.

Following the concession agreement with the Greek State, PPA S.A. plans to further boost the cruise ship sector in the wider region, transforming thus Piraeus into a hub for international operators’ cruise ships.
