PortArgentario is a project aimed at promoting nautical tourism on the Monte Argentario promontory, involving many municipalities in the Maremma region of Tuscany for almost ten years.
The project stems from an initial collaboration between the Tuscan Regional Port Authority and the Municipality of Monte Argentario, home to the two ports of disembarkation: Porto S. Stefano, located in the north, and Porto Ercole, on the southern coast of the Argentario coast.
Both ports are able to provide the services required by the numerous small and medium-sized cruise ships, which are increasingly requesting to call at the area, thanks to their port security points. Larger ships are hosted at anchor in both ports, while at Porto S. Stefano, vessels no longer than 130 meters can also be hosted at the quay.
It is also very active in the yachting sector, for which the promontory has become an increasingly popular destination: indeed, many luxury megayachts choose Argentario as a call during their sea tours during the summer season.
Since June 2023, PortArgentario, in close collaboration with the local Municipal Administration, the Maritime Authority, and the Regional Port Authority, has succeeded in securing the reopening of the magnificent destination of Giglio Island for small and medium-sized cruise ships; this was undoubtedly a major event that has allowed and will continue to allow visitors to fully enjoy one of Italy’s most beautiful islands.
PortArgentario actively promotes its entire territory, including the Maremma Toscana area stretching all the way to Siena, within the international cruise market, through the organisation of local events and participation in promotional initiatives aimed at contributing to the area’s tourism and economic development.
This largely unexplored territory offers a variety of tourism opportunities: outdoor sports, from diving to golf, from hiking to biking, and not forgetting sailing: the nearly 160 km of coastline with crystal-clear waters can be a strong attraction for the quality of the sea and the associated services.
We also recommend the historical and cultural itineraries, discovering the Spanish past of this marvellous land; the food and wine, ranging from traditional seafood recipes to tasty culinary innovations; and, of great impact, the consideration that Argentario can be the ideal starting point for exploring the Maremma region, a unique part of Tuscany for its protected environment thanks to numerous nature reserves and oases; its medieval villages, true treasure troves of history and culture; and its world-renowned fine cuisine.
Furthermore, the proximity to cities and nationally important tourist and cultural destinations, such as Siena, makes Argentario the ideal destination for nautical tourists.
PortArgentario therefore has a single goal: to welcome and satisfy its guests/customers, leading them to discover a unique, fascinating and different area, sharing with them the beauty and opportunities it has to offer and enjoying unforgettable experiences.
