On May 7th and 8th, 2025, the Ports of Santa Cruz de Tenerife and Santa Cruz de La Palma hosted official plaque exchange ceremonies for the SH Diana, marking its inaugural calls at both ports.
In Santa Cruz de Tenerife, the plaque was presented by Ms. Luz Marina Espiau Moreno, Head of Commercial and Business Development at the Port Authority of Santa Cruz de Tenerife and Board Member of MedCruise, on behalf of the Port Authority, as a formal welcome and gesture of recognition to this outstanding expedition cruise vessel.
In Santa Cruz de La Palma, the ceremony was led by the Head of Port Operations, who handed over the commemorative plaque on behalf of the Port Authority, reinforcing the province’s shared commitment to promoting quality and sustainable cruise tourism.
Operated by Swan Hellenic, the SH Diana is a state-of-the-art expedition cruise ship built in 2023 at Helsinki Shipyard, Finland. With a length of 125 metres, a gross tonnage of 12,100 GT, and a capacity for 192 guests, the vessel is designed for polar exploration with a reinforced PC6 ice-class hull. It features a hybrid diesel-electric propulsion system and is future-ready for zero-emission technologies, with the ability to sail up to 40 days without refueling.
The SH Diana represents a new era in maritime tourism, focused on immersive, low-impact travel and high-quality experiences. Its itinerary through the Canary Islands, including stops at both Santa Cruz de Tenerife and Santa Cruz de La Palma, strengthens the positioning of these ports as strategic destinations for sustainable and boutique expedition cruises, thanks to their natural appeal, advanced infrastructure, and commitment to service excellence.
