During the 2026 Excellence Cruise Awards held today in Madrid, a special recognition was presented to the Port Authority of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, CLIA and MSC Cruises for the joint development of the educational programme “All Aboard”.

The recognition highlights a pioneering educational initiative aimed at students from 4th to 6th grade of Primary Education, designed to showcase the wide range of professional careers available on board a cruise ship while promoting values such as sustainability, creativity and teamwork.

“All Aboard” combines dynamic classroom workshops with a creative competition based on the use of recycled materials, encouraging circular economy principles and environmental awareness from an early age. The winning class is awarded the opportunity to visit an MSC cruise ship during its call in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, gaining first-hand insight into onboard operations and the diverse professional profiles that make cruise activity possible.

In its first international competition, the programme has already engaged 400 students, confirming its strong educational impact and the growing interest in connecting the maritime industry with younger generations through meaningful and practical learning experiences.

The award was received by Luz Marina Espiau, Member of the Board of Directors of MedCruise and Commercial Director of the Port Authority of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, together with Ana Díaz on behalf of CLIA and Sofía Basterra representing MSC Cruises.

This recognition underlines the value of the programme as a best practice in public-private collaboration, strengthening the link between education and industry while generating tangible social impact.

The distinction received in Madrid reinforces the shared commitment of port authorities, cruise associations and cruise lines to promote purpose-driven initiatives with international projection and long-term transformative potential.
