The port of Heraklion has been selected as shortlisted nominee in the 28th Annual World Travel Awards, European Leading Cruise Ports

Heraklion Port Authority S.A. (HPO S.A.) is delighted to announce today, that the Port of Heraklion has been selected as a shortlisted nominee, in the 28th Annual World Travel Awards (www.worldtravelawards.com), in the category Europe’s Leading Cruise Port 2021 (voting process and voting window is open until July 14th, 2021, votes can be cast by media, travel professionals and tourism consumers). HPO urges its friends from all over the world to support  its candidacy with their vote!

The 2021 Annual World Travel Awards shortlist includes 13 European Cruise ports, among others major players for Cruising like Venice, Barcelona, Southampton, Marseille, Amsterdam.

Heraklion and Piraeus are the only two Greek ports, which have been nominated in the shortlist, which has been published today.

Mr. Minas Papadakis, Managing Director of Heraklion Port Authority considers this nomination “As a further acceptance of the ambitious 5 year strategic business plan of the Port Administration for developing Heraklion as major East Med cruise destination and an acknowledgment of Heraklion’ crucial role in the cruise resumption during autumn 2020 in the Mediterranean, both as home as well as transit port. We are committed to excellence and we will continue our hard and focused work during this extremely crucial period of 2021 season cruise resumption, together with our strategic business partners from the cruise industry, which we hope to welcome in Heraklion, the shipping capital of Crete, in the next months, as soon as Greek ports open to Cruises again”.
