The president of the Port of Huelva welcomes the ship’s captain and presents him with a commemorative plaque marking his visit
The Port of Huelva has welcomed the cruise ship Hebridean Sky, operated by the British cruise line Noble Caledonia, which specialises in cultural and expedition cruises with exclusive ports of call, for the first time. The vessel, which is 90 metres in length, has docked at the southern Levante Quay with 96 passengers, mostly British nationals, and a crew of 77. The shipping agent is Pérez y Cía.
The ship arrived at the Port of Huelva today from the Port of Lisbon (Portugal) and will depart in the late afternoon bound for the Port of Tangier Med (Morocco).
The president of the Port of Huelva, Alberto Santana, visited the ship, where he met with its captain to present a commemorative plaque in gratitude for its first port of call at the Port of Huelva. Santana pointed out that the Port of Huelva is committed to encouraging visits by small luxury cruise ships calling at the Levante Quay, due to its proximity to the city centre, where tourists can explore Huelva and enjoy its tourist attractions, leisure activities and services.
The ship’s passengers will go on various excursions to visit some of the tourist attractions in Huelva and the province. On this occasion, the ship’s passengers will have the opportunity to visit La Rábida and the Columbus-related sites, Doñana National Park, William Martin’s grave in the city, and enjoy a panoramic tour of Huelva, as well as exploring the city at their leisure.
Meanwhile, the cruise ship Le Champlain, a luxury exploration yacht operated by the French shipping company Ponant, will call at the Port of Huelva for the second time this year. Specifically, the vessel is scheduled to dock tonight at the southern Levante Quay and will remain in Huelva throughout tomorrow, 16 September. Noatum Maritime has acted as the ship’s agent. The vessel, which is 131 metres in length, arrives in Huelva with 128 passengers, the majority of whom are US nationals. The crew consists of 120 people. Le Champlain arrives in Huelva from the Port of Lisbon and, after its stopover in Huelva, will set sail for Gibraltar.
Throughout September, the vessel La Belle de Cadix, operated by the French cruise line Croisi Europe, has once again been making port calls at the Port of Huelva, having begun its season of calls at the port in May. This vessel combines river and sea itineraries and calls at various Andalusian ports. The shipping agent is Lamaignere.
The arrival of cruise ships at the Port of Huelva is organised by the Huelva Cruise Network, a working group dedicated to planning the reception of the ships and comprising the Huelva Chamber of Commerce, the Huelva Federation of Entrepreneurs (FOE), the Huelva Destination Agency, Huelva City Council, the Regional Government of Andalusia, tourism companies and the Huelva Port Authority.
