Viking Mars and Costa Fascinosa debuts at the Port of Leixões

On June 2, the Port of Leixões welcomed VIKING MARS maiden call.

She was on her 14-night ‘Trade routes of the Middle Ages’ voyage from Barcelona to Bergen with 840 passengers on board, mainly from the USA who had the opportunity to visit Porto and North of Portugal Region. This itinerary includes visits to Cartagena, Malaga, Leixões, Falmouth, Portsmouth, Le Havre, Zeebrugge and Amsterdam.

VIKING MARS is the latest VIKING OCEAN CRUISES ship, launched tin 2022 with 227 meters in length and a capacity for about 950 passengers.

A Plaque Exchange Ceremony with ship’s Captain and Port Authorities took place at the port commemorating the ship’s inaugural call.

On June 3, the Porto Cruise Terminal welcomed COSTA FASCINOSA maiden call.

The ship was on a 10-day trip from Savona (Italy) to Ijmuiden (Netherlands) and scheduled to visit Marseille, Barcelona, Cádiz, Lisbon, Leixões, Le Havre and Zeebrugge. FASCINOSA has arrived at Leixões early in the morning with almost 1.800 passengers on board from 52 different nationalities, served by 890 crew members. The seafront of Matosinhos and its gastronomy together with the city center of Porto were the perfect choices to visit the region during the day.

COSTA FASCINOSA was launched in 2012 becoming at the time the largest cruise ship in the fleet of the Italian cruise company COSTA CROCIERE with 290 meters of length, 114.500 of gross tonnage and a capacity for around 3.800 passengers. Her name was selected via online competition.

To celebrate her debut at Leixões, Port Authority presented COSTA FASCINOSA’s Captain with a Plaque Exchange Ceremony held at the Porto Cruise Terminal.
