Viking Mira: Maiden voyage from Ancona

On May 28th, the Port of Ancona bid farewell to Viking Mira as the ship sets off on its inaugural voyage. Built at Fincantieri’s Ancona shipyard and officially delivered on Tuesday, May 27th, in a ceremony attended by institutional representatives, industry stakeholders and the workers who brought her to life, this milestone marks yet another proud chapter in the close bond between Mediterranean ports and world-class shipbuilding.

With a gross tonnage of approximately 54.300 GT, 499 cabins and capacity for up to 998 passengers, Viking Mira is a small-ship cruise vessel by design, crafted for intimate itineraries across the Mediterranean and Northern Europe. It embodies Viking’s signature approach: thoughtful engineering, carefully curated experiences and a deep respect for the environments it will sail through. Like all Viking vessels built by Fincantieri, it is equipped with advanced technology and high-efficiency propulsion systems, designed to meet the latest international safety and environmental standards.

Since 2009, Fincantieri’s Ancona yard — one of the group’s key production hubs — has delivered over 20 vessels, thanks to the daily commitment of around 3.700 workers from diverse nationalities, backgrounds and generations. A remarkable testament to the skill and dedication of an entire maritime community.

The Port of Ancona is honoured to have been both the birthplace of Viking Mira’s construction journey and the departure point of her first voyage. We extend our warmest congratulations to Viking and Fincantieri, and our very best wishes to all who will sail with her.

Fair winds and following seas, Viking Mira!
