TÜRKLİM

Main information

The Port Operators Association of Turkey (TURKLIM) plays a crucial role in coordinating information flow between member ports, relevant government bodies, and international sector organizations. TURKLIM represents private port operators across Turkey, fosters cooperation among ports to compete globally, and advocates for the development of port management in the national economy. As an active member of international associations, TURKLIM stays updated on European Union developments and shares information with member ports. It also focuses on establishing vocational standards, training, and certifying port personnel. TURKLIM’s efforts have resulted in the certification of 7,500 personnel so far.

History

The Port Operators Association (MARLİM), established in 1996, aims to address sectoral issues faced by private port and pier operators. Initially focused on the Gulf of Izmit, it expanded to include ports and organizations in Gemlik and Ambarlı, covering the Marmara Sea. As its membership grew, the association extended its reach nationwide, representing private sector port operators across all Turkish coasts. Consequently, the association changed its name to the Port Operators Association of Turkey (TURKLIM) and relocated its headquarters to Istanbul. TURKLIM now operates throughout Turkey, advocating for the vital role of port operators in the national economy. It stands as the sole association in this field.

Philosophy

Our vision is to unite all port operators as a strong and reliable sectoral association. We strive to represent our national ports effectively on both domestic and international platforms, serving as a valuable source for developing appropriate policies. Our missions include addressing sectoral challenges, becoming a reference institution, fostering coordination among industry entities, supporting initiatives for sector growth, generating public support, promoting environmental protection, and facilitating information exchange.
