The educational project “All Aboard!” was successfully delivered this weekend at FITUR, following months of joint work and institutional coordination, consolidating its position as an innovative outreach and education initiative for the port and cruise sectors.

The activity took place on Saturday 24 and Sunday 25 January at the Puertos del Estado (Ports of Spain) stand, within the Spanish Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility, and received an excellent response from the visiting public. Over the two days, around 20 children, accompanied by their families, actively participated in the programme, enjoying an educational experience based on play, participation and collaborative learning.

The project was officially presented on Friday 23 January at the same stand by Luz Marina Espiau Moreno, Head of Business Development and Commercial Strategy at the Autoridad Portuaria de Santa Cruz de Tenerife and Board Member of MedCruise, who leads and promotes the initiative with a strategic vision focused on strengthening the connection between ports, the cruise industry and society.

An educational project with real impact

“All Aboard!” is an educational programme designed to introduce children to the more than 400 professions that exist on board a cruise ship, through a role-play dynamic in which participants take on different professional roles and explain their functions to the rest of the group. Beyond sector knowledge, the activity emphasises key values such as cultural diversity, teamwork, coexistence, respect for other cultures and environmental protection.

During the FITUR sessions, children became the true protagonists of the experience, while their families were able to discover first-hand the educational potential of the project, reinforcing the bond between the port and cruise sectors and the wider community.

Public–private collaboration in support of education

The “All Aboard!” project is delivered through the collaboration of the Autoridad Portuaria de Santa Cruz de Tenerife, MSC Cruceros and the CLIA, with the support of Puertos del Estado, which hosted the initiative at FITUR and enabled it to reach children and families at Spain’s leading tourism fair.

Key contributions to the development of the project were made by Sofía Basterra (MSC Cruises) and Ana Díaz García (CLIA), strategic partners whose involvement has been essential in ensuring the educational rigour of the programme, its alignment with sector values and its international outlook.

A more open, educational and people-centred sector

The implementation of “All Aboard!” at FITUR demonstrates that ports and the cruise industry can play an active role as open, educational and opportunity-generating spaces, engaging not only children but also their families.

“Seeing ‘All Aboard!’ move from a proposal to a tangible reality at FITUR clearly shows how collaboration, strategic vision and commitment to education can create real impact for the present and future of our sector,” said Luz Marina Espiau Moreno.

The success of this edition reinforces the project’s long-term vision and ambition to continue growing, positioning “All Aboard!” as a best-practice reference in port and cruise sector education and outreach
