VIKING SEA called la Goulette Cruise Terminal for the first time on January 18th. The ship had onboard almost 900 passengers -most of them Americans- and made a stopover from 9am to 6pm.

As the shore ex were included in the cruise price, all passengers went on shore excursions to visit the key attractions of Tunis: Medina of Tunis, Carthage, Sidi Bou Said, Bardo Museum and even Zaghouan. Zaghouan is a town located around 100 km south of Tunis, famous for its roses, originally cultivated by Muslim refugees from Spain in the seventeenth century. On the mountain south of the city is the Roman Water Temple Djebel Zaghouan (Temple de Eaux), source of an aqueduct which used to take water to the city of Carthage over 100 km away.

The Cruise terminal has collaborated with Cultural Ministry to organize a classical music concert inside the cruise village played by the “Orchestre symphonique de Tunis”. The ship captain and passengers appreciated very much the music and the nice cruise village.

The Cultural Minister and the Tourism Minister has joined port authorities and cruise terminal to welcome the cruise passengers and enjoy with them the music concert.

Viking Sea made the first call of 2017 in la Goulette and will make 3 more calls. Viking Sky will also make a single call in February.
