Las Palmas Cruise Port has installed three new state-of-the-art passenger boarding bridges, designed and manufactured by the Spanish company Milán Port Equipment, further strengthening the capacity and modernization of the terminal’s operations.

The new bridges, fully produced in Almería and transported to Gran Canaria already assembled by sea, represent a major step forward in accessibility, safety, and operational efficiency.

In total, two bridges have been installed in the Santa Catalina Poniente area, connected to a fixed walkway measuring 220 meters, and another one in Santa Catalina Naciente, with a length of 140 meters.

Safe, accessible, and efficient design

These boarding bridges meet the highest technical and safety standards, in accordance with national and international regulations on design, accessibility, and occupational risk prevention.

Each bridge is equipped with a triple redundant safety system, online monitoring from the terminal, surveillance cameras, anemometers, fire detection systems, alarms, and automatic anchoring devices, ensuring stable and safe operation even under adverse weather conditions.

Modern design and passenger comfort

The new design provides a more comfortable, safe, and pleasant boarding experience.
The bridges feature spacious and bright interiors, along with safety glass panels and clear passenger information signage.

Their structure, with smooth ramps and adjustable access points, facilitates passenger flow and minimizes obstacles.

In addition, they can be adapted to any type of cruise ship, with adjustable heights ranging from 2 to 14 meters above the quay, ensuring a smooth connection with the vessel even during tide changes or natural ship movements.

Sustainability and commitment to the blue economy

The project embraces energy efficiency and sustainability, incorporating clean energy systems, natural ventilation, and maximum use of sunlight.

Its design reflects the principles of the blue economy and Las Palmas Cruise Port’s commitment to protecting the marine environment. A detailed study of local climate conditions was carried out to optimize the performance and durability of the structures.

A port ready for the future of cruise tourism

With this investment, the cruise terminal managed by Global Ports Holding and SEPCAN reinforces its commitment to innovation, sustainability, and the continuous improvement of the passenger experience, consolidating the Port of Las Palmas as one of the most modern, sustainable, and competitive cruise destinations in the Atlantic.
