Welcome, Le Boréal!
On June 4th, first call at the Port of Ancona for the cruise ship of French company Ponant — a landmark moment for the Doric port’s growing presence in the boutique cruising segment.
Built at the Fincantieri shipyard in Ancona in 2010, Le Boréal is the first of a generation of intimate, elegant vessels: 264 passengers, 132 cabins and suites, 145 crew members. From polar seas to tropical beaches, from the Aegean and the Adriatic to the Indian Ocean, she is exclusive cruising at its finest.
The Port of Ancona is a key gateway to the central Adriatic and a natural hub for cruise itineraries connecting the Italian coastline with the Balkans, Greece and the Eastern Mediterranean. As a MedCruise member, the Central Adriatic Ports Authority is committed to developing sustainable, high-quality cruise tourism across the region — welcoming vessels like Le Boréal that set the standard for low-impact, experience-driven voyages.
On board, the maiden call ceremony took place with the traditional crest exchange, attended by Captain Julien Duroussy, Secretary General of the Port Authority Salvatore Minervino, Head of Promotion Guido Vettorel, and Frigate Captain Luca Torcigliani representing the Ancona Harbour Master.
