Santa Cruz de Tenerife, 27 October 2025 – The Port Authority of Santa Cruz de Tenerife and the Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA), in collaboration with MSC Cruises, have launched the first edition of All Aboard!, an educational project designed to introduce Year 5 pupils in Santa Cruz de Tenerife to the many different professions on board a cruise ship through dynamic and interactive sessions.
This free initiative, supported by the Santa Cruz de Tenerife City Council, the Santa Cruz Development Society, Why Tenerife? and the Cabildo of Tenerife, consists of two main activities. The aim is to enhance pupils’ understanding of cruise activity while encouraging their creativity through a competition based on what they have learned.
Firstly, students will take part in dynamic, interactive sessions using role-play methodology to explore some of the more than 400 jobs that can exist on board a cruise ship.
Afterwards, they will participate in a creative competition designed to encourage reflection on what they have learned and to express it through a collaborative collage. Pupils will be required to use recycled materials for their artwork, promoting environmental sustainability and highlighting the importance of the circular economy.
An international jury will select the winning entry. The winning class will visit an MSC Cruises ship during its call at Santa Cruz de Tenerife in 2026 and enjoy an exclusive and exciting day, meeting crew members who will share fascinating insights about their life and work on board.
In addition, the Tenerife Cruise Terminal will host a month-long exhibition featuring the six finalist artworks, showcasing the creativity and effort of the participating students.
Pedro Suárez López de Vergara, President of the Port Authority of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, described this new initiative as “a unique opportunity for young people to discover the complexity and richness behind every port call. Bringing them closer to this world fosters values such as respect, curiosity and teamwork, while also inspiring vocations connected to the sea and port-related professions — all essential to the Port’s development.”
Participation in the programme is free of charge. The registration deadline is 7 November. 2025.
