The Port Authority of Las Palmas has released its statistical data for the month of April. The figures show an increase in total traffic, reaching 11,772,948 tonnes in cumulative traffic for 2026 through April, representing a +2.70% increase compared with the same period last year, equivalent to 309,176 additional tonnes over 2025.
The President of the Port Authority of Las Palmas, Beatriz Calzada, highlighted the overall growth in port activity and reiterated that “the statistics continue to show, time and again, that we are a first-class port with sufficient strength to join Group 1 of Spain’s state ports — a goal I will continue to champion until we achieve that promotion.”
Traffic growth at the Port of Las Palmas stood at +2.62%, reaching 10,222,683 tonnes through April. The Port of Arrecife recorded slight growth in total traffic of +0.09%, with 668,083 tonnes, while the Port of Salinetas increased total traffic by +34.38%, reaching 243,296 tonnes. However, the Port of Puerto del Rosario posted a decrease of -1.28%, with 557,912 tonnes, and the Port of Arinaga saw traffic fall by -7.95%, with 80,974 tonnes.
Year-on-year performance for the first four months of 2026 compared with the same period in 2025 across the five ports managed by the Port Authority shows the following key indicators:
- Passenger traffic: +5.43% (-7.22% in regular line services and +10.21% in cruise traffic), with a total of 1,670,933 passengers compared with 1,584,856 passengers in the same period of 2025.
- Cargo traffic: +3.24%, with 10,767,829 tonnes compared with 10,429,721 tonnes in 2025.
- Frozen fish volumes: +68.23%, with 121,843 tonnes compared with 72,426 tonnes.
- Fresh fish volumes: -18.99%, with 64 tonnes compared with 79 tonnes in the same period last year.
- Fuel volumes: -7.36%, with 859,782 tonnes compared with 928,109 tonnes in 2025.
- TEU traffic: +5.73%, with 495,115 TEUs compared with 468,301 in 2025.
- Containerised general cargo: +0.97%, with 5,045,021 tonnes compared with 4,996,702 tonnes in 2025.
- Ro-Ro traffic units: +3.01%, with 128,010 units compared with 124,265 in the same period last year.
- Ro-Ro cargo volumes: +7.27%, with 2,003,868 tonnes compared with 1,868,121 tonnes in 2025.
