Kaleiçi, the historical core of Antalya city, is a charming district surrounded by fortified walls that offer a glimpse into the Hellenistic, Roman, Byzantine, Seljuk, and Ottoman eras. Aspendos, an ancient city located 40 km from Antalya, boasts a magnificent and well-preserved Roman amphitheater that hosts the Aspendos International Opera and Ballet Festival. Olympos is home to Roman and Byzantine remains, including the ancient city and the Yanartaş Chimera. Side is a peninsula that offers sandy beaches, a museum, the Temple of Apollo, and an abundance of shops, restaurants, and nightlife. Finally, Phaselis, founded in 693 BC, is an important port city with ruins of an amphitheater, an aqueduct, an agora, and baths, which were include on the UNESCO Tentative List in 2009.
