The cruise lines welcome the completion of the new tender berth pier at the Old Port of Mykonos, a small but crucial infrastructure improvement designed to strengthen safety, improve passenger flow and enhance the overall cruise guest experience.
As cruise development consultant for the global destination, Five Senses Consulting has worked closely with the Mykonos Port Authority and cruise line stakeholders to identify operational needs, coordinate industry feedback and support the alignment of the project with the expectations of the cruise sector.
The new facility is designed to receive up to four tenders closer to the Old Port, creating a safer, faster and better-organised connection between tender operations and Mykonos Town. This has been a long-standing need for the cruise industry, which has consistently highlighted the importance of better connectivity between cruise arrivals and the Old Port area.
For guests arriving by tender, the first moments ashore matter. A smooth, safe and well-managed arrival supports both the visitor experience and the reputation of Mykonos as one of the world’s most recognised cruise destinations.
The facility will operate within the ISPS framework, supporting the required security procedures for a certified port operation. For a destination of Mykonos’ international profile, safety, security and guest experience are part of the same service chain and are essential to service excellence.
Five Senses Consulting expects the new service to begin very soon and believes it will contribute to a clear upgrade in the service standards of the Port of Mykonos. By bringing tender operations closer to the Old Port in a more organised and secure way, the destination can improve arrival quality, reduce friction in passenger movement and support better access to Mykonos Town, local businesses and the wider island experience.
The new tender berth pier may be modest in scale, but it is an important step in strengthening the port’s functionality, supporting cruise operations and enhancing the destination experience.
Five Senses Consulting congratulates the Mykonos Port Authority for this initiative and remains committed to supporting actions that help Mykonos operate as a safe, welcoming and globally competitive cruise destination.
